Continuing Education Requirement
Applies to All Certified Members in the USA only
In an effort to elevate the standards of tennis teaching professionals and coaches in the United States, PTR and USPTA agreed to Continuing Education Requirements. Effective January 1, 2014, both organizations require their certified members to earn a minimum of 12 Continuing Education Hours every 3 years.
For all members who were certified prior to January 1, 2014, the initial three year period requirement deadline is January 1, 2017.
For all members who were certified on or after January 1, 2014, the initial three year period requirement deadline is three years from date of PTR certification.
Obtaining & Verifying Hours
Hours are obtained by participating in educational activities. As a general guideline, eligible activities are those that can further a member’s knowledge of tennis coaching, sport science, tennis business, etc. PTR International Headquarters will have the final determination regarding the eligibility of any activity.
Look for the MAP logo indicating that an activity qualifies for Continuing Education Hours and the Merit Achievement Program. Many eligible activities may not display the MAP logo, but do qualify for Continuing Education and MAP hours.
MAP allows PTR members to enhance their current certification rating with 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A or 5A levels of professional development. Members who have raised their standard through workshops, courses, conferences, online learning, degree programs or other educational activities, will be recognized for their dedication to professional development. Every certified member of PTR is eligible to participate in the program. Hours for MAP accumulate and never expire.
