PTR is saddened by the passing of Dr. Howard Brody (photo above: far left)
A graduate of MIT, with a Masters and Doctorate from Cal Tech, Howard’s intellect in the science of physics took him to Switzerland’s famous
CERN Laboratory, then on to a professorial career at the University of Pennsylvania.
Through a series of fortunate events, Howard focused on the physics of tennis and changed the way we look at and play the game. He served
on PTR’s Sports Science Committee, ITF Technical Commission and the USTA Technical Committee. He received the Educational Merit Award from
the International Tennis Hall of Fame and PTR’s Stanley Plagenhoef Award for contributions to sport science.
Above all else, Howard will be remembered for the man he was. Howard had a great sense of humor. A true gentleman, he treated everyone
with kindness, respect and a smile.
Farewell dear friend.
