Growing Kids, Growing the Game • Mike Barrell

A varied curriculum designed to teach ages 5-10. The course covers essential skills needed for working with children, including age relevant coaching methodology, appropriate use of courts, equipment and balls. A developmental approach to building essential skills to get kids playing the game quickly and develop fundamentals to maximize long term potential. More than 50 games, activities and progressions to get kids playing while emphasizing balance, coordination, agility and motor skills. Includes simple competition, programming and marketing.
 
Team Coaching • Geoff Norton

Course is designed to reveal the most efficient way to coach scholastic and collegiate teams. Introduction to the five game situations and a tactical approach to developing successful singles strategies. Learn how to encourage players to cope with various styles of play. Tips on proper court positioning, managing time on court, proactive play, and how to recognize and respond to common situations. How to create drills relating to
specific patterns of play and how to implement tactics and strategies that mesh with the skills and needs of players. This course is approved by state and local districts for continuing education credits.
 

Successful Doubles II Advanced Techniques • Pete Collins

The Red Cross and US Olympic Committee have joined forces to develop an exciting course for coaches to keep their athletes safe. Sports First Aid covers sports related injury prevention and first aid care, such as bandaging, hard/soft splints and more. This course is a must for coaches, officials and parents of athletes. Tennis is changing and clearly the pro players are using new techniques. In this course, you’ll analyze those
new strokes, new footwork and balance, to understand how they work and how to optimize them for your players’ game. As we´ve experienced the advantages of teaching using progressions, the course will discuss the progressions for teaching the new techniques. Technical and tactical concepts will be discussed as well as how to handle the evolution of a young player. From Leo's work with ATP/WTA players, he will share his knowledge of the new techniques to make you a better teaching professional.
 
Instructing Wheelchair Tennis

Learn to teach the fastest growing of all wheelchair sports. This workshop covers all the basics you will need to teach wheelchair tennis. You will learn mobility and the difference in stroke production for the wheelchair player. Court placement and ready positions are addressed, and games are provided that will help you teach your students in wheelchairs. As a bonus, Skills & Drills will show you how to adapt drills for wheelchair players and work with higher levels of competitive players. Quickie Sport Wheelchairs will be provided for ablebodied teachers to use during the workshop.
