Jimmie Nigro Named PTR Pennsylvania Member of the Year

Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will present its annual awards tomorrow during the 2018 PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, is underway February 13-16, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Jimmie Nigro, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the state.  This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.  A PTR Charter member, Nigro is a certified Professional, and serves as a Clinician for the organization.  In that role has conducted more than 100 PTR Certification Workshops to educate other coaches.  Nigro also received the Pennsylvania Member of the Year award in 2004, and in the same year was honored as PTR Clinician of the Year.   

He has also been a guest speaker at the United States Professional Tennis Association’s (USPTA) workshop in Tuscan, Arizona, and the USTA Teachers Conference at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center during the US Open in Flushing, New York.  

Over the years Nigro has worked with the giants of tennis greats coaching, including Arthur Ashe, Nick Bollettieri, Wayne Bryan, Vitas Gurilitas, Billie Jean King, Dr. Jim Loehr, Patrick McEnroe and the incomparable Dennis Van deer Meer.  Nigro has helped institute many ongoing programs with the United States Tennis Association (USTA).  

Nigro is also USTA National and Zonal coach.  He has worked with and continues to coach a number of touring pros, National juniors and many talented local players. 

Since 1982, Nigro has served as the Director of Tennis at Philmont Country Club, in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania.  Multi-talented, Nigro is also a musician, who plays lead guitar and vocalist for the Deuce Brothers Band.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,000 members in 125 countries.  It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization.  PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
