Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards this week during the PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, was held February 11-15, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Frank Giampaolo, of Laguna Nigel, California, has been named PTR Newcomer of the Year. In his first year with PTR, he has presented at multiple PTR Symposia and written for the organizations’ magazine, TennisPro.
Giampaolo is a 30 year sports education veteran, who founded The Tennis Parents Workshops, and conducts workshops worldwide. His innovative approach has made him a worldwide leader in athlete-parent education. Giampaolo’s commitment to coaching excellence helped develop approximately 100 National Champions, hundreds of NCAA athletes, numerous NCAA All-Americans and several professional athletes. Giampaolo is Vice Chair of the USTA/SCTA Coaches Commission. He was named Tennis Director of the Year by USPTA Southern California, and was voted top tennis professional by Southern California Tennis & Golf Magazine several times. Giampaolo is a popular speaker, sports educator, instructional writer for ITF Coaching & Sports Science Review, UK Tennis, Tennis and Tennis View. His television appearances include The NBC Today Show, OCN-World Team Tennis, Fox Sports, Tennis Canada and Tennis Australia. He wrote Championship Tennis, The Tennis Parent’s Bible 2nd Edition, Raising Athletic Royalty and The Mental Emotional Workbook Series. His most recent books include Emotional Aptitude in Sports, Neuro Priming for Peak Performance and The Soft Science of Tennis.
