Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will present its annual awards next week during the PTR
International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches,
is will be held February 10-13, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Naoufal Houmairy, of Boston, Massachusetts, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State. This award is
presented to a member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR. A native
of Casablanca Morocco, Houmairy moved to Boston in 1999, and proudly calls it home today.
As Director of Junior Tennis at the Dedham Health & Athletic Complex (DHAC), Houmairy runs an academy for
junior players. The program is dedicated to the development of tennis players ages 3 through 18. Houmairy built and
branded the program at DHAC in March 2016. At the beginning of the year, he also launched TennActive program for
adults. Houmairy’s philosophy is that all young/adult tennis players are good players as long they enjoy the game,
competition and have the willingness to adapt whether on the tennis court or off.
Houmairy is also a USTA New England Tournament Director and Master Racquet Technician (MRT). He enjoys
hosting all level events, providing opportunities for players to perform, and helping players with all their tennis
equipment needs.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,000 members in 131countries.
It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to
educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
