Jack Busby Named Young Professional of the Year

Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards this week during the PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, was held February 11-15, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Jack Busby, of Las Vegas, Nevada, has been named PTR Young Professional of the Year.

As a junior, Busby was rated as high as #1 in his native Great Britain.  He moved to the states to play at Cowley Count Community College in Kansas.  Busby received two All-American team awards, one in singles and one in doubles, and was ranked as high as #7 in the nation.  After Cowley, Busby received a full ride scholarship to play at Oral Roberts University in Oklahoma.

At just 25 years old, he is the Director of Tennis at Southern Highlands Country Club in Las Vegas, where he built the programs from scratch.  He is a Net Generation provider and set up community tennis programs in area schools.  Busby hopes to inspire as many kids to play the game for life.  He even spends his days off doing volunteer community outreach programs at local parks and recreation centers to introduce and educate the people of Las Vegas to the game of tennis.  A PTR member for only a year, Busby is already certified with a Professional rating in each of the four PTR education pathways.  He signed on to participate in the inaugural PTR Mentor Program with Nigel Pugh as his mentor.  Busby hosted four PTR Certification Workshops, including a Level 3, so that others in his area could get certified.  He receives great reviews from clinicians and the participants for his hospitality.  He also attended the PTR Directors of Tennis Conference in 2018.  Busby is eager to learn and share his knowledge and love for tennis.  He is energetic, motivated and a passionate advocate of the game and PTR.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,500 members in 125 countries.  It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization.  PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
