Jim Scott Named PTR North Carolina Member of the Year


Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards this morning during the 2018 PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, is underway February 13-16, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Jim Scott, of Durham, North Carolina, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State.  This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.  A member since 2014, Scott is already a certified Professional in three PTR education pathways. 

Scott started his teaching career 33 years ago at Inverrary Racquet Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  The skills learned on the courts allowed him to progress from Assistant Professional positions to Director of Tennis.  Scott went on to be the Director of Tennis at several notable clubs, including The City of Sunrise Tennis Center, Lago Mar Country Club and Winchester Country Club.  Currently is Director of Tennis at Hollow Rock Racquet and Swim in Durham. 

Always one to give back, he has served on numerous USTA Sectional and District committees, coached USTA National/Sectional team players and coached the Cardinal Gibbons High School (Ft. Lauderdale) to numerous state team and individual championships.  

In 2018, he will be serving on two USTA North Carolina Tennis committees  - Team NC & Pro Relations - as he continues to grow tennis at Hollow Rock and beyond.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,000 members in 125 countries.  It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization.  PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
