Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will present its annual awards during the PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, will be held February 11-15, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Mark Fairchild, of Elk Grove, California, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State. This award is presented to a member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.
Fairchild is the Director of Tennis at Laguna Creek Sports Club, where he oversees the tennis staff, four of whom are PTR Professionals certified in 10 & Under. He has hosted several PTR Certification and educational workshops. Fairchild also coached the club’s 2017 USTA Co-ed 18s to the Intermediate National Team Championships. Last year, in the same division, Laguna Creek finished 5th in the country, while the Boys 18s captured the Intermediate California State Championships title.
Fairchild was inducted to the USTA NorCal Hall of Fame in 2008. He was awarded USTA NorCal Men’s Open Player of the Year three times, and has more than 100 NorCal Open career titles. Currently he serves on the USTA NorCal Board of Directors. He is a member of the HEAD Advisory Staff and has spoken at numerous conferences throughout the country including PTR International Tennis Symposium and USPTA World Conference.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,500 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
