Hilton Head Island, SC - - Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will present its annual awards during the PTR International Tennis Symposium. The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis coaches, will be held February 11-15, on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Tito Perez Rios, of Mount Sinai, New York, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State. This award is presented to a member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.
A native of Bolivia, in 2007, Perez was Captain of his country’s team at the ODESUR Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has worked in the tennis industry for more than 25 years, and is both a PTR and USTA Clinician. Perez is a Certified Professional in all four PTR education pathways: 10 & Under, 11 to 17, Adult Development and Performance. Perez is very active in the tennis community and serves on the Board of USTA Eastern. He has conducted presentations at several PTR International Tennis Symposia, as well as been a speaker at the PTR Directors of Tennis and Junior Development Conferences.
Currently he is the Director of Tennis at World Gym Setauket (WGS), a PTR Proud Facility, with nine indoor and seven outdoor tennis courts. Perez also runs Game Set Match Tennis Academy at WGS, a program that focuses on friendship, team building, excitement and improvement, all imperative elements to keeping players in the game. Game Set Match also offers Junior Pro Squad a two week course for high level players led by a world class coach with Grand Slam and Davis Cup experience.
PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 16,500 members in 125 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization. PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and serving tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
